Director of Enterprise Technology Oversight & Governance
Our client is seeking a strategic leader to head enterprise-level technology oversight, ensuring that all technology programs — from innovation and architecture to cybersecurity and risk — align with organizational goals and regulatory expectations. This role will establish and manage governance structures that enable effective decision-making, risk mitigation, and strategic technology execution across the enterprise.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Governance Leadership
- Build and maintain a comprehensive governance model to guide enterprise technology practices, aligned with business priorities and digital evolution.
- Lead and facilitate key governance forums responsible for evaluating innovation strategies, architectural design, security readiness, and risk posture.
- Partner with senior leadership to provide insights on emerging technology risks, strategic direction, and regulatory trends.
2. Governance Structure & Council Management
- Coordinate cross-functional oversight groups, setting agendas, ensuring clear communication of decisions, and tracking follow-through.
- Drive the evaluation and approval process for enterprise technology investments, ensuring consistency with business strategy and risk tolerance.
- Cultivate collaboration between departments such as IT, security, compliance, and business units to reinforce unified governance.
3. Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Establish controls to proactively identify, monitor, and manage technology-related risks in accordance with internal frameworks and industry standards.
- Refine risk tolerance statements, performance indicators, and reporting mechanisms to improve transparency and accountability.
- Guide organization-wide risk assessment activities, including technical evaluations and self-audits, to uphold a strong control environment.
4. Policy and Standards Management
- Maintain and update enterprise-wide policies and standards for technology operations, security practices, and solution design.
- Oversee solution review processes to validate technical alignment with architectural principles and enterprise goals.
- Ensure innovative efforts are supported through governance that balances agility with compliance and stability.
5. Performance, Budget, and Value Realization
- Develop and deliver performance metrics and dashboards to measure progress and effectiveness of technology oversight initiatives.
- Assess proposals for strategic alignment, risk impact, and value generation to ensure prudent technology investment decisions.
- Manage resources and budget associated with governance activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in technology risk, governance, or senior IT leadership, ideally within regulated industries.
- Proven track record managing enterprise-wide governance functions, including executive and cross-functional forums.
- Strong knowledge of frameworks such as NIST, COBIT, ISO 27001, or similar.
- Exceptional ability to lead through influence, synthesize complex information, and communicate with executive and external stakeholders.
- Experience in navigating regulatory environments and supporting audits or external assessments.
