Lampeter-Strasburg Summer Camp is seeking an organized, dynamic, and leadership-driven individual to join our team as a Summer Camp Coordinator . This role is responsible for overseeing daily camp operations, supporting and supervising staff, and ensuring a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for all campers.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about youth development and creating positive summer experiences.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Assists as directed with administrative tasks that support the camp which may include enrolling children, preparing newsletters, communicating policies/procedures to families, etc.
- Availability to work throughout the camp season and has flexibility to work early morning to late evening hours in accordance with camp needs.
- Assists with the day to day operations which includes but is not limited to sign-in/out, scheduling, handling parental concerns, ensuring safety and security of all campers and staff.
- Effectively communicates with supervisor and co-workers to provide feedback for program improvement, concerns, etc.
- Build authentic relationships with camp participants and their family while also providing connections with other YMCA staff and members to enhance membership.
- Oversee staff on a day to day basis at camp and other branches/locations as assigned.
- Assists Camp Director with the development and implementation of purposeful programming and curriculum, daily routines, and program procedures, helping to ensure high quality programs.
- Leads counselors in the planning and assists with the implementation of activities as needed.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of campers and staff by reporting all accidents immediately to the Camp Director.
- Reports suspected abuse in accordance with the PA Child Protective Services Law and YMCA policy.
- Provides staff with descriptive feedback for redirecting challenging camper behaviors. Supports Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) implementation. Effectively communicates behavior concerns with parents.
- Assists with work detail and camp clean-up.
- Act in accordance with the YMCA philosophy, camp goals, objectives, and policies as stated in the YMCA Mission Statement and Personnel Policy.
- Assume responsibilities of director in the absence of the Camp Director.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Attained or be pursuing a degree in education, recreation, sports management, human services or other youth related majors.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Three years of experience working with children required and experience working in a day camp setting preferred.
- Obtain a State Police, Child Abuse, NSOR and/or FBI clearance in compliance with Child Protective Services Law and YMCA policy.
- Must have or obtain Pediatric First Aide/CPR and AED certification.

- Hazardous Conditions/Materials Exposure
- Continuous exposure to outdoor elements
Obtain Criminal background check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
