Program Overview
The program is a next generation Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system. It establishes a repository of resident space objects (RSOs), finds RSOs of interest, and provides data to ground operators.
About The Role
Peraton is looking for a Senior Software Developer in King of Prussia, PA to support Intelligence Community and DoD customers as part of a talented, high-performing team. As part of this team you will work with emerging service and distributed computing technologies for satellite situational awareness (SSA) data processing and distribution.
The EMMETT program, a next gen Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system, establishes a repository of resident space objects (RSOs), finds RSOs of interest, and provides data to ground operators. The EMMETT team uses: programmatics, sensor modeling, and system engineering expertise to deliver this world-class SDA I&W system.
What you'll do:
- Provide TS/SCI Java software development of modules. Some of these techniques include but are not limited to event-driven or state-driven programming, error logging, and exception handling.
- Perform TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services at the unit, module, and system levels.
- Perform all aspects of software engineering support required to implement systems.
- Adhere to open standards and modern software development methodologies, including what is considered ‘best’ practices by Industry to the extent that operational requirements will allow.
- Provide technical reports, white papers and other documentation as required to documents findings of all software engineering service activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience. Additional four (4) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request- contract requires TS/SCI with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
- 5+ years of experience with Java
- 3+ years of experience in working with microservices and containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with backend frameworks, such as Spring Framework or Spring Boot
- Experience with API development, including REST architectural style
- Experience with integration and development tools, including AWS, Bitbucket, or Jenkins
- Experience with supporting systems engineering efforts in system design, solution engineering, and software development
- Experience with Linux OS and Command Line Interface
- Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 Compliant Certification, including Security+ or CISSP, within 6 months of start date
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Open Systems Architecture design principles
- Experience with DevOps technologies
- Experience with CI/CD technologies, including Ansible, Jenkins, and GIT
- Experience with Agile development or Scrum
- Knowledge of non-relational databases, including MongoDB
- Knowledge of Apache NiFi and Kafka
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
- Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or GSEC Certification

Details
Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
