About the Role
The Training Development Specialist plays a key role in supporting employee growth and organizational effectiveness across all Allegheny entities. This position focuses on coordinating training programs, managing learning activities within the Learning Management System (LMS), and supporting leadership development and organizational initiatives.
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role ideal for someone who enjoys building structure around learning, supporting people development, and keeping programs running smoothly-from content preparation and scheduling to tracking completion and reporting outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Training Development & Delivery
- Support the development of training materials and resources that align with individual and team development plans across all Allegheny entities.
- Assist in creating training agendas, presentations, and learning activities using foundational adult learning principles for in-person, virtual, and online delivery.
- Upload, organize, and maintain training content using training and development software and systems.
- Leverage the Learning Management System (LMS) to assign training, monitor completion, and research or recommend course offerings.
- Coordinate training schedules, prepare agendas, and manage logistics to ensure effective program delivery.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for leadership development programs, including communications, material preparation, and progress tracking.
- Design and develop engaging learning resources such as training videos, SOPs, technical training materials, and e-learning modules to support employee development and capture institutional knowledge.
- Support logistics for leadership retreats and development events, including location coordination, scheduling, and equipment needs.
System Oversight & Compliance Tracking
- Run standard LMS and training reports and send reminders to support completion of required training by established deadlines.
- Serve as a first point of contact for Organizational Development requests and basic system troubleshooting.
- Maintain deadline-driven tracking documents and follow up as needed to support compliance and reporting needs.
- Assist with tracking performance management cycle documentation, timelines, and related materials.
- Distribute employee surveys, monitor response rates, and assist with basic data summaries for senior leadership.
- Maintain departmental metrics and contribute to monthly reporting.
Change, Assessment & Organizational Support
- Keep training and program documentation up to date and support assessment activities across learning and development initiatives.
- Assist with coordination tasks related to organizational change initiatives.
- Gather and organize information to support research and development of organizational programs and processes.
- Support job description audits and organizational structure updates as directed.
- Partner with HR to align training, development, and organizational development activities with broader HR initiatives.
Administrative & Department Support
- Monitor and order supplies to support departmental operations.
- Assist in promoting company-wide events, training opportunities, and development programs across Allegheny subsidiaries.
- Coordinate logistics for training programs, workshops, and organizational events.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience creating or supporting training and development content.
- Basic understanding of organizational structures and change management concepts.
- Experience collecting and summarizing information such as survey data, interview notes, or feedback inputs.
- Ability to develop, track, and manage training plans and timelines.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or similar digital platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines, anticipate needs, and prioritize effectively.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance processes and workflows.
- Growth mindset with interest in learning new systems, tools, and development practices.
- Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business Administration, Education, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in training coordination, HR support, administrative support, project coordination, or customer service roles requiring strong organization and communication skills.
- Experience in commercial construction, architectural millwork, manufacturing, or a related industry is a plus.
