The Coatings Applications Technician provides technical support for the Decorative Coatings team by assisting with laboratory testing, coatings formulation, and application activities.

This role supports collaboration with internal teams and customers by preparing samples, conducting coatings application testing, and helping identify opportunities for product development and performance improvements. The technician also supports innovation and development initiatives by maintaining laboratory operations, documenting experimental results, and contributing to projects that advance coatings technologies and product launches.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supports coatings formulation and application testing activities within the laboratory.


• Performs coatings application techniques such as spray application and formulation blending.


• Maintains day-to-day laboratory operations and supports chemists in development work.


• Documents experiments and results using digital lab notebook systems.


• Assists with customer-driven projects and new product development activities.


• Ensures adherence to laboratory safety practices and reports incidents such as spills or mistakes according to safety protocols.


• Collaborates with cross-functional team members to support project execution and laboratory activities.


• Provides reliable data and technical support to help develop value-added solutions for customers.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field preferred; Associate's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related discipline will also be considered.


• Industrial experience in the area of applications or customer technical support is preferred.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.


• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.


• Passion for coatings technology and an interest in developing value-added solutions for customers.


• Basic laboratory experience and familiarity with safe laboratory practices.


• Experience with coatings application techniques or formulation work is a plus.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to work on-site in the laboratory in Allentown, Pennsylvania.


• Position requires a standard Monday-Friday, 40-hour work week
