Construction Carpenter
Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley is seeking an experienced Construction Carpenter to help build and rehabilitate homes throughout the Lehigh Valley. Position Summary
The Construction Carpenter works under the direction of the Construction Manager and Site Supervisors to perform a variety of residential construction tasks, including rough framing, carpentry, and home repair activities. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to Habitat's mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform rough framing, carpentry, and general construction tasks.
- Assist with the installation of windows, doors, trim, and other building components.
- Read and interpret basic construction plans and specifications.
- Safely operate hand and power tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, homeowners, and subcontractors.
- Assist with site preparation, material handling, and project completion activities.
- Follow all Habitat safety standards and construction quality expectations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of carpentry and rough framing experience required.
- Experience with framing, trim work, window installation, and door installation required.
- Valid driver's license required and must meet the eligibility requirements of Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley's insurance carrier.
- Basic understanding of residential construction methods.
- Ability to safely operate construction tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with volunteers and team members.
