Junior Loan Review Officer

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:
Aid the Loan Review Program, as assigned, to ensure the accuracy of risk ratings of loans within the portfolio in an effort to minimize the impact of losses and ensure that the bank's lending practices conform to established policy and quality lending standards. The primary function of this role requires the ability to understand financial information and the ability to perform and interpret the financial analysis (e.g. liquidity, leverage, cash flow coverage) of companies and / or individuals. The primary duties of this position are managing the population of risk ratings / dates and assisting in monitoring the institution's existing portfolio.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Attain the objectives required in the loan review policy and procedures.
2. Manage the population / updating of risk ratings / dates.
3. Prepare accurate analyses (review format) of existing borrowers from an unbiased perspective in an effort to ensure the accuracy of the risk ratings. This includes but is not limited to: evaluation and interpretation of liquidity, leverage, and operating metrics; calculation and discussion of cash flow coverage; consideration of management, industry, rent roll, and collateral.
4. During the review process, the reviewer is expected to be mindful of significant changes in operations, underwriting, credit quality and relationship manager performance and report and discuss with supervisor. Certain aspects of this will develop with time as the individual gains experience and knowledge.
5. In co-ordination with the Chief Loan Review Officer, manage any requests from parties outside of the department and / or third parties.
6. Responsible for adhering to deadlines.
7. Responsible for the timely completion of assigned monthly and quarterly graphs, reports, and memos.
8. Update procedures as needed.
9. Responsible for keeping the supervisor advised on progress of loans reviewed and potential problem loans or problem situations. Again, the latter portion of this function will develop with experience and knowledge.
10. Validate the accuracy of management reports prepared and used in the respective lending departments.
11. Professional development through various outside training sources as available.
12. Perform other assignments as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position requires no supervision of employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is frequently required to: 1) type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) talk, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word which includes activities in which the employee must convey detailed or important oral instructions to other workers or clients accurately, loudly, or quickly; 3) hear, i.e., perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with/without correction with the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make determinations in sound; and 4) see, with required abilities including viewing a computer monitor and extensive reading.
Sedentary work may require occasionally lifting to 10 pounds and/or moving up to 25 pounds. This work involves sitting most of the time with walking.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field with courses in accounting (through at least the intermediate level), finance, and economics.
