TITLE: Hall Monitor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. High School Diploma/GED

2. Previous experience in a school setting is preferred.

3. Excellent communication skills.

4. Knowledge of behavioral intervention.

5. Experience with youth.

6. Ability to perform the actions necessary to maintain order and ensure the protection of persons and security of the school building.

7. Ability to exercise sound judgment in carrying out monitoring and security duties.

8. Ability to understand and carry out written or oral directions.

9. Ability to articulate the problems and concerns of the students to the school administration.

10. Concern for the welfare of young adults.

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Assistant Principal

POSITION GOAL: A Hall Monitor’s job is to ensure the safety and order of a school campus by supervising students and visitors. A Hall Monitor ensures the general school environment's safe, smooth, and efficient operation and performs work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal. Hall monitors may perform the following duties:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Patrol: Regularly patrol the school’s grounds and buildings to ensure compliance with rules and safety.

2. Observe: Monitor student behavior in the halls and other areas of the school.

3. Intervene: Help de-escalate disruptive students and intervene in fights.

4. Report: Report any suspicious or violent behavior to school security and the front office.

5. Assist: Assist students with transitions between classes, and escort them to assigned areas.

6. Communicate: Communicate with students, parents, staff, and the administration.

7. Duties as assigned by principal/assistant principal to maintain a safe and supportive school environment for all students and staff.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 4 hours per day

Pay: $8.00 - $20.00 per hour
