The Vehicle Transporter (or Hiker) is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of commercial vehicles, including box trucks and customer vehicles, between company locations and customer sites. This role ensures that equipment is available where needed and is performed in a manner that adheres to all company safety procedures and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

• Transport commercial vehicles to and from company lots, repair shops, and customer locations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including checking all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment.
• Accurately record and document mileage, fuel levels, and any damage to vehicles before and after transport.
• Operate all assigned vehicles in a safe and courteous manner, following all traffic laws and company policies.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage immediately to the location manager.
• Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles and assist with other general duties as needed.
• Provide assistance to the service or parts department with deliveries and other tasks as required.
• Adheres to all Company’s procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Frequently required to sit, use hands to handle objects and talk or hear.
• Frequent wrist and/or hand movement is required.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Demonstrates the ability to enter and exit vehicles independently and without difficulty.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must have a Class B license
• Strong time management and navigation skills.
• Operate a wide variety of cars, light trucks, and vans, with ability to drive both manual & automatic transmission.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with accuracy and promptness.
• Professional appearance adheres to Company Uniform Policy and demonstrates a strong work ethic.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with both internal and external customers.
