Litigation Paralegal

The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for providing comprehensive litigation support in complex civil matters within a regional office of a national law firm. This role includes (1) managing all phases of litigation case files and deadlines, (2) supporting electronic discovery and document review processes, and (3) assisting attorneys with trial preparation, dispute resolution, and regulatory matters. The position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient case management, procedural compliance, and high-quality legal support in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation Support & Case Management
- Manage all phases of litigation including drafting pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and discovery requests/responses.
- Organize, Bates stamp, index, and maintain electronic and paper case files.
- Track deadlines and ensure compliance with federal, state, and appellate court procedures.
- File documents through electronic filing systems (e.g., ECF and related platforms).
- Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, deposition summaries, witness lists, and trial logistics.
- Maintain case calendars and coordinate communications with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and external stakeholders.
Discovery & Document Review
- Manage electronic discovery processes using litigation support platforms.
- Draft and respond to discovery requests.
- Review, analyze, and summarize medical claims, insurance records, and related documentation.
- Prepare document productions and maintain accurate tracking systems.
Dispute Resolution & Regulatory Support
- Support mediation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings through preparation of filings, exhibits, and summaries.
- Coordinate deposition materials, background research, and case documentation.
- Assist attorneys in preparation for hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Paralegal certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience supporting complex litigation matters.
- Experience in electronic discovery and trial support.
- Experience with medical claims or healthcare-related litigation highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of federal and state court procedures and electronic filing systems.
Special Requirements
- Ability to work within a regional office environment with hybrid flexibility.
- Willingness to work overtime and travel as required for trials or case demands.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with litigation support software such as Relativity, Ringtail, Summation, Concordance, CaseMap, TextMap, TimeMap, Trial Director, OnCue, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of electronic filing systems including PACER, CM/ECF, and other court-based platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and case management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong legal research and document analysis skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, healthcare providers, insurers, and regulatory agencies.
Additional Desired Characteristics
- Trial presentation and courtroom support experience.
- Experience with healthcare regulatory matters.
- Familiarity with document management systems (e.g., NetDocs or similar platforms).
- Experience supporting arbitration and mediation proceedings.
- Advanced proficiency in litigation technology tools.
Work Environment
This position operates within a regional office of a national law firm and offers a hybrid work schedule. The role requires collaboration with attorneys and legal teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Overtime and limited travel may be required to support trial schedules and case demands.
