Job Title: Assembly Technician
Job Description
The Assembly Technician follows detailed build sheets and drawings to assemble precision parts that meet strict customer specifications, including tolerances as tight as 0.003 inches. This role uses a variety of measuring devices, hand tools, and powered tools to assemble, inspect, and package small components while maintaining high quality standards and full compliance with internal and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Follow build sheets, drawings, and documented procedures to assemble products accurately and consistently within specified tolerances, including up to 0.003 inches.
- Use a variety of measuring devices, including gauges and calipers, to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet all specifications.
- Operate various hand and foot-powered tools to cut wire, trim insulation, crimp terminals and connectors onto wire, and perform solder dip operations where required.
- Ensure all products are assembled correctly, consistently, and in compliance with internal specifications and customer expectations.
- Monitor assembly and service processes to verify they are being followed correctly and remain in control, escalating issues as needed.
- Use the ERP system to look up and reference part drawings, routings, work instructions, and other required documentation.
- Locate and follow work instructions, assembly instructions, drawings, and related information in the database as needed for each job.
- Interpret internal and customer requirements from drawings and documentation to perform accurate assembly and inspection.
- Review and understand work order packets (including travelers, bills of materials, routings, and family drawings) and maintain full traceability of parts while ensuring routing operations are properly signed off.
- Assemble and inspect parts to the required inspection levels in accordance with internal standards and customer-specified requirements.
- Measure parts using calipers and other precision equipment, applying a solid understanding of measuring units, especially millimeters and inches.
- Use a microscope to repeatedly assemble and inspect very small parts with a high level of precision and concentration.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in precision assembly environments requiring strict adherence to customer specifications and quality standards.
- Familiarity with solder dip processes and handling of terminals and connectors in wire assemblies.
- Comfort working with detailed work order packets, including travelers, bills of materials, routings, and family drawings.
- Previous experience in a clean, technical manufacturing or assembly setting.
- Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.
- Organizational skills to maintain an orderly work area and manage documentation accurately.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean, technical production environment focused on precision assembly and quality control. Work is performed primarily on a first-shift schedule, supporting predictable hours and work-life balance. You will regularly use microscopes, precision measuring devices such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers, as well as various hand and foot-powered tools for cutting, trimming, crimping, and soldering. The facility emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to documented processes and quality standards, creating a structured and professional work setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
