Job Summary:

The Veterinary Clinic Manager’s primary duties include overseeing the Wellness Clinic operations, supervising and providing training to veterinary staff across all departments, coordinating with Operational Managers, and monitoring customer service and satisfaction. This position works in tandem with the Chief Medical Officer and all Veterinary Department Managers to oversee all operations within the Wellness Clinic Department, including the care of clinic animals and shelter animals. This position requires knowledge and understanding of the mission of the Providence Animal Center as well as a strong background in veterinary medicine, animal care and customer service.

Accountability:

This position reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services. This position is full time, it may be paid hourly or salary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide and train employees to exhibit good customer service

· Training and assistance to medical staff across all departments (Wellness Clinic, Surgery, Shelter) as needed

· Manage and hire Wellness Clinic staff, including scheduling, addressing staff issues and other responsibilities

· Oversee and proctor veterinary technician students during rotations

· Handle client complaints and resolve client communication issues for Wellness Clinic

· Development and enforcement of training protocols

· Coordinate veterinary department functions with other department operations

· Assist in establishing hospital standard operating procedures/protocols (SOP) and training protocols for staff members across all veterinary departments

· Assist with management of inventory

· Manage accounts with outside vendors, maintain relationships with drug company representatives

· Maintain schedule for Wellness Clinic

· Proficiency in use of EMR systems (ClinicHQ, PetPoint), including monitoring and updating as needed

· Assist vet staff and veterinarians when needed, including in all departments

· Monitor budget and income, ensure daily, weekly, monthly goals are being met

· Participates in Providence Events as needed or required

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and task satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

· Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent

· Must be able to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

· Management skills to effectively hire, train, and oversee veterinary staff members

· Ability to remain composed in emergency situations and cope with death.

· Demonstrate efficient time management and prioritize workload

· Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

· Must demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

· Must be able to work under stressful conditions and work efficiently and effectively under those conditions.

Managers must possess maturity, good leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, follow-through and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multi-tasking and accepting constructive criticism are essential. Direct but gentle communication style preferred.
