Mon Valley Initiative (MVI) , founded in 1988 , works to improve the lives of people in the Mon Valley area by helping to rebuild community infrastructure and connecting employers to people seeking new jobs and careers. We do this by delivering quality services to the people of the Mon Valley, including housing counseling , real estate and community development and workforce development and financial coaching . We also partner with other local advisory groups and community development corporations that together engage more than 100 local volunteers to think about, and find solutions to, our common and connected problems.
MVI is seeking its next Construction Project Manager . This role oversees housing rehabilitation, new construction, and property maintenance projects in support of Mon Valley Initiative’s regional real estate development strategy. This role manages projects from planning through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead feasibility assessments for potential development sites in collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and leadership.
- Develop preliminary cost estimates, scopes of work, and construction specifications to support budgeting and project planning.
- Create and manage detailed construction schedules to ensure timely project delivery.
- Oversee the contractor bidding process, including outreach, bid analysis, and recommendation of qualified vendors.
- Cultivate and maintain a diverse network of contractors and subcontractors, including minority-, women-, and disadvantaged-owned businesses.
- Assist in the preparation and review of professional service agreements and construction contracts, ensuring permits and required documentation are secured.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Monitor contractor and consultant performance to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
- Conduct site inspections, develop punch lists, and confirm completion of corrective work.
- Review and process construction draw requests in partnership with fiscal and real estate teams.
- Provide consistent communication and written progress updates to leadership, Board members, committees, and community stakeholders.
- Maintain organized and thorough project documentation to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Advise leadership on materials selection, construction methods, sustainability opportunities, and cost considerations.
- Support property maintenance needs, including after-hours coordination, minor repairs, and volunteer project initiatives as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Building Trades, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing residential and/or commercial construction projects required.
- Experience developing cost estimates, scopes of work, and managing project budgets.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Knowledge of contractor bidding processes, vendor management, and permitting requirements.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in construction or project management software preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
- Full-time access to a vehicle.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites as needed.
- Appropriate car insurance.

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$80,000, depending on relevant experience.
