Shift: Sunday–Tuesday, every other Wednesday, 5:00 PM–5:00 AM

A day in the life

As the control-room heartbeat of Symbotic’s Customer Operations team, you’ll begin your shift by reviewing dashboards, scanning alerts, and confirming system availability across people and automated robotic vehicles. You’ll coordinate with onsite partners to align order schedules and inbound inventory, then steer production through a custom GUI/HMI to keep the automated material handling system running at peak performance.

When the unexpected happens, you’ll diagnose stoppages, assess log files, and determine the fastest, safest path to restore uptime. You’ll collaborate with off-site Symbotic software engineers and the onsite leadership team to resolve software issues, while planning maintenance windows with technicians and the Automation Manager to balance throughput with reliability. Throughout the shift, you’ll capture accurate event logs, grow into the site’s go-to software expert, and mentor other operators in troubleshooting techniques.

What you will own

• Champion daily safety in line with OSHA, Symbotic, and customer procedures.
• Monitor system health and performance of autonomous vehicles and supporting personnel resources.
• Coordinate order production and inventory receipt with the customer.
• Troubleshoot system interruptions; choose and execute the best recovery plan to protect uptime.
• Partner with off-site software engineers and onsite management to resolve software-related issues.
• Operate the system via a custom GUI/HMI; ensure safe, precise execution at all times.
• Plan daily activities; align maintenance with techs and the Automation Manager to meet warehouse goals.
• Keep thorough logs of significant events; build deep understanding of system interdependencies.
• Investigate robotic vehicle faults by reviewing logs, documenting findings, and notifying service personnel.
• Assist and train fellow automation operators on troubleshooting and equipment repairs within your training scope.
• Engage tiered support channels to drive production and resolve escalations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

What you bring

• At least 1 year of experience in a computer or automation environment (desired).
• Ability to direct and guide daily standard work for team members.

Work environment & physical expectations

• Climb steep stairs to access structures; work near high railings.
• Work indoors with exposure to temperature variations from 105° to 32° F.
• At construction-phase sites, wear required PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe footwear, eye/ear protection, fall protection).
• Frequently lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 80 lbs safely and efficiently.
• Stand/walk for 10–12 hours; frequent reaching with hands/arms.
• Routinely work at heights up to 45 feet and within restrictive spaces down to 24 inches; climb/balance/stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl as needed.
• Perform occasional or continuous bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive motions with both hands and feet.
• Comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and fall protection.
