Job Summary:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment in the rectory. This includes laundry services, ironing, and general cleaning of office, kitchen, and living areas used by the clergy and staff. The ideal candidate is trustworthy, respectful of privacy, and attentive to detail, with a commitment to upholding the values and environment of a Catholic household.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wash, dry, fold, and organize laundry, including clergy garments, linens, and household items
• Iron clothing and liturgical items as needed
• Dust, vacuum, and mop all common areas including office, kitchen, hallways, and living rooms
• Clean bathrooms and ensure supplies are stocked
• Maintain cleanliness and order in private living quarters (as directed)
• Empty trash and recycling in all areas regularly
• Monitor cleaning and laundry supplies and inform supervisor when restocking is needed
• Maintain confidentiality and respect for the clergy’s privacy and routines
• Perform occasional deep cleaning tasks (e.g., windows, baseboards, etc.)

Qualifications:

• Previous housekeeping experience preferred, ideally in a residential or religious setting
• Ability to handle laundry care with attention to fabric types and care labels
• Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment
• Reliable, punctual, and self-directed with a strong work ethic
• Respectful of the Catholic faith, clergy lifestyle, and household routines
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Work Environment:

This position involves working in a private home environment that serves as both a residence and office for clergy. A high level of professionalism and discretion is required.
