Abound Health is seeking compassionate, dependable Home-Based Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in their homes and communities. This position offers meaningful work, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to make a real difference.

About the Role

We are currently hiring DSPs to support an individual living at home with family in Mercer, PA. This person requires full physical assistance, close monitoring, and consistent support due to significant medical and personal-care needs. This role is ideal for someone attentive, patient, and experienced in providing hands-on care.

Client Information

• The individual lives at home with parents.
• Non-ambulatory and requires full assistance with lifting and transfers.
• Has a Mickey One Button and can also consume pureed food by mouth.
• Staff and parents prepare meals as needed.
• Nonverbal but communicates through sounds.
• The home has two medium-sized indoor dogs that freely roam; no care is required for the animals.
• Has a severe seizure disorder and must be monitored closely at all times.
• Cannot be left unattended for long periods.
• Bright lights can trigger seizures and must be avoided when possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full physical assistance, including lifting and transfers
• Monitor closely due to seizure risk
• Support daily living activities and personal care
• Prepare pureed meals and assist with feeding as needed
• Follow treatment plans and document progress
• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Submit documentation and payroll on time
• Participate in ongoing training
• Work independently in the home setting

What We’re Looking For

• Genuine interest in supporting individuals with I/DD
• Ability to work independently and responsibly
• Valid driver’s license and active car insurance
• Comfortable supporting individuals with high medical and personal-care needs
• At least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass background checks
• Physical ability to assist with lifting or transfers
• At least 2 years of caregiving experience required

Compensation

• $19.50 per hour
• $1,000 signing bonus for qualified candidates

Schedule

This client in Mercer, PA needs support during the following hours:

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Overnight support Wednesday and Thursday: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM

Additional hours may be available by working with other clients in surrounding areas.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience required

Signing Bonus Details

• $333 after 90 days (minimum 20 hours/week)
• $333 after 6 months (minimum 20 hours/week)
• $334 after 1 year (minimum 20 hours/week)

Bonus not available for Residential Services or Relative as Provider (RAP) hires. Applicants must not have worked for Abound Health or its affiliates within the past 18 months.
