Diagnostic Medical Physics Resident

GENERAL OVERVIEW:
During the two year residency the incumbent will gain clinical expertise in the technical and leadership aspect of Diagnostic Physics/Safety under the supervision of a Residency Program Director and faculty.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Demonstrate competence performing evaluations and quality control, safety and compliance testing of diagnostic imaging equipment as outlined in 10 assigned clinical rotations. (40%)

Complete radiation shielding design and shielding surveys. (10%)
-
Demonstrate understanding of diagnostic modalities imaging protocols. (10%)
-
Assists with special clinical R&D projects as assigned. (10%)
-
Complete patient dose and risk assessment from ionizing and non-ionizing sources. (5%)

Knowledge and involvement in Radiology Informatics (PACS, DICOM, HL7 and IHE). (5%)

Demonstrate understanding of the AHN dose management program (Radimetrics). (5%)

Participate in departmental meetings, local and regional conferences, in-service, and lectures. (5%)

Assist with the delivery of patient care for special procedures. (5%)

Minimum of 1 submission to a professional meeting or journal. (5%)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
-
Master's in Medical Physics or related field
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
-
Graduated from a CAMPEP approved Medical Physics Program
