LCMS Research Scientist
Location: Onsite, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
Type: 6-month contract to hire
Hours: 8AM-5PM

Join as a Research Scientist to will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and validating LC-MS assays to support research and development efforts. This role involves method development, sample preparation, data acquisition, data analysis, troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, and documentation in a regulated or research environment. This role will be involved in collaborative efforts and provide scientific leadership in LCMS-based analytical projects.
Responsibilities
- Involved in applying and maintaining complex LCMS (liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry) instrumentation.
- Managing collaborative research projects, while developing and validating LC-MS methods (quantitative and/or qualitative) for small molecules, peptides, proteins, metabolites, or other analytes.
- Design experiments for project and method development, operate and maintain mass spectrometers (e.g., triple quadrupole, Orbitrap, Q-TOF) and LC instrumentation, process and analyze mass spec data using relevant software
- Interpret data scientifically and ensure quality control, write and review method standard operating procedures and protocols, and present data.
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment, comply with safety and regulatory policies, and manage laboratory supplies and inventory.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in bioanalytical techniques, instrumentation, and workflows with the opportunity to train junior staff / scientists in LCMS techniques, good laboratory practices, and data analysis.
- MUST have PhD degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related scientific discipline with relevant postdoctoral or industrial experience.
- Must have expertise in instrument maintenance, sample preparation and method development across multiple platforms including metabolomics, lipidomic and proteomics
- A strong work ethic, communication skills, ability to troubleshoot, be detail orientated and organized, and be able to manage multiple interdisciplinary projects and timelines with minimal supervision
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to sit, stand or move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
