The Housekeeper displays a high degree of professionalism, organization and cleanliness, attention to guest needs, and a helpful and courteous attitude toward guests. The employee also ensures that supplies and arrangements in guest rooms in assigned sections are in accordance with all standards of the Company guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the Company’s room schedule of 15 rooms/suites per 8-hour shift or other guidelines that are established or to be established.
- Thoroughly clean each room by stripping scheduled rooms of all dirty linen, and garbage. Replace linens, make the bed, and clean any debris from under the bed. Open all drawers and inspect for lost and found items. Wipe all telephone receivers, television screen, and all sills and ledges. Wipe out all Drawers in the room. Clean all mirrors and windows until streak-free. Dust all lamps and artwork. Dust and vacuum the entire room/suite. Wipe all doors. Place all pamphlets/stationary correctly. Remove and replace damaged or soiled literature. Check behind credenzas, armoires, and nightstands for material and remove if found. Thoroughly clean the HVAC unit.
- Thoroughly clean the bathtub, sink, and vanity area. Scrub and wash the tub area inside and outside. Shine all chrome to maintain a streak-free surface. Scrub any film off the shower curtain and replace, it if necessary. Replace towels and supplies. Clean and disinfect the commode and bathroom floor. If applicable, thoroughly clean the whirlpool, including regular sterilizing.
Assume responsibility for section keys. Return guest keys to the assigned areas. Maintain a clean and stocked housekeeping cart at all times. Housekeepers are required to wear the proper uniform, including nametag.
Conduct a maintenance check for items inside and outside the room/suite. Complete a maintenance slip for any problems found. Serious problems should be reported to the General Manager or Front Desk as soon as possible. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: deadbolts, telephones, draperies, smoke alarms, and stained or peeling caulking and wallpaper.
ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
- Housekeeping cart, vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner/extractor
- Commercial laundry washer and dryer, utility shut-offs
ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
Allergic reactions could result from contact with various detergents, solvents, cleaners, latex, and insecticides. Required and provided Personal Protective Equipment includes safety glasses or goggles, rubber gloves, and facial masks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee will be required to regularly push, pull, bend, stoop, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, reach overhead, speak, use repetitive motions, use sustained visual and mental concentration, lift, pull, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and push items weighing up to 35 pounds. They will occasionally read and write and be required to lift, pull, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and push items weighing up to 50 pounds.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- One+ year housekeeping experience preferred.
- High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize work.
- Must possess the ability to work all shifts as required.
- Must adhere to the Comfort Inn Conference Center Pittsburgh East Policies and Procedures Manual and Employee Handbook.
