Housekeeper/Laundry Aide Job Description
Position SummaryThe Housekeeper/Laundry Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. This position performs housekeeping and laundry duties while following infection control, safety, and resident rights standards.
Essential DutiesClean resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and dining areas.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and empty trash.
Wash, dry, fold, sort, and distribute resident clothing and facility linens.
Maintain housekeeping equipment, carts, and supplies in a clean and organized manner.
Follow established cleaning schedules, infection control practices, and safety procedures.
Report maintenance concerns, hazards, accidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
Treat residents with dignity, respect, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Work cooperatively with residents, families, coworkers, and other departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous housekeeping or laundry experience preferred but not required.
Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical duties throughout the workday.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, soiled linens, and body fluids while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Must follow all infection prevention, safety, fire, and emergency procedures.
