Job Descriptions:
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Assist Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Engineering, Tooling, and all other departments throughout a manufacturing environment, using machines & equipment to fabricate tooling and fixtures to be used to produce piece parts and shelters and to achieve quality and integrity of products at the lowest possible cost.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Receives instructions verbally or from layouts and detailed tool drawings & blueprints.

Will be required to set-up and operate all types of machines required to fabricate production equipment, tooling, fixtures and to assist Manufacturing Engineering in the execution of designs. Welding machines, various bench mounted equipment and all types of hand tools both electric and air operated.

Performs operations that will include Welding, boring, counter boring, turning, tapping, threading, drilling, countersinking, sawing, grinding, cutting, sharpening, chamfering, deburring.

Assist with and or constructs templates, tools, shop aids and fixtures, some layout required.

Will produce pieces or parts for prototypes as well as machine and building maintenance parts or assembly as needed.

Assist with and or performs repairs to templates, tools, dies, fixtures, and shop aids.

Assists with or repairs machines and equipment as required or requested by the Maintenance dept.

All level positions may perform other functions such as moving parts/material, loading/unloading, sweeping, cleaning, and various other assignments as needed.

Uses various measuring and inspection equipment, tools and machines to verify work.

Maintains a clean and safe work area.
-
Performs other related duties and assignments as required. Will be asked to work outdoors on occasion as well as in other departments in the shop as need or required by shop workload.

Tasks are varied but follow clearly established procedures or readily understood instructions.

Analysis requires the use of information from several sources. Some search into unfamiliar areas is frequently necessary.

Duties, objectives, and results are generally specified and in accordance with well-defined policies/procedures or precedence.

Works under only general supervision. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for completeness & accuracy.

Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions,

Works closely with tool design & planning Dept's.

May exercise leadership in a work group by giving advice, guidance, direction, and training to junior staff as required, maintaining quality, accuracy, quantity of work of others. May function as a team leader of a small group on a small project.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Experience:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
Basic computer skills required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent.
-
Weld Certification.
-
Minimum 5 years on-the-job experience in all phases of Millwright.
-
Preferred background in manufacturing production environment & use of all required tools and equipment.

Basic knowledge of shop math.
-
Intermediate blueprint reading.
-
Fraction & Decimal conversion.
-
Ability to read and understand all types of measuring and inspection tools as applied to a manufacturing production environment.

Basic computer skills required.
Advanced blueprint reading is desirable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Production Environment.
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
Ability to perform repetitive motion.
Ability to lift 25 pounds.
Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e., machine motors).
Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemical and hazardous conditions.
Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
