Advancement Communications and Alumni Engagement Manager
Reports to Director of Alumni Relations
Position Purpose
The Advancement Communications and Alumni Engagement Manager within the Office of Institutional Advancement supports the alumni relations and marketing/communications staff of Williamson College of the Trades. It is an on-site position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Functions
Alumni Engagement Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Alumni Relations, this role will develop and manage alumni-focused digital communications and assist in the coordination of programs and services designed to foster and strengthen the relationship between Williamson alumni and the college.
- Develop and manage digital and print communications for alumni relations programs, and services with specific responsibility for alumni e-newsletters, digital communications, and event invitations.
- Develop and post engaging content for the college’s alumni-branded social media platforms and engage with Williamson’s alumni online community in a productive and professional manner; manage platform activity and assess regularly.
- Create and post multi-media content and manage online groups in Tradesmen Connect, Williamson’s alumni networking platform; collaborate with and Director of Alumni Relations and Director of Career Services on content development.
- Utilize assessment software and tools to monitor performance of alumni digital communications and alumni-branded social media platforms and report data regularly to appropriate administrators; ensure brand alignment across all communication platforms.
- Assist in coordination of alumni–focused events hosted by the college and the Williamson Association of Alumni both on-and off-campus.
- Assist in supporting the Association of Alumni committees and alumni volunteer groups, with direct responsibility for the Young Alumni Advisory Council and the Young Alumni Class Representative and Shop Liaison Program.
- Assist in the coordination of promotional materials, awards, certificates and related items for alumni events and activities.
- Perform necessary administrative functions such as record keeping, reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, contractual arrangements, as needed.
- Assist at all alumni and advancement events both on- and off-campus, as needed.
- Serve as a resource to alumni and others on alumni programs and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Advancement Communications Responsibilities:
With oversight from the Creative Director, the manager will develop and manage the college-branded social media platforms and coordinate Advancement digital communications.
- Develop and post engaging content for college-branded social media platforms and engage with Williamson’s online community in a productive and professional manner; manage platform activity and assess regularly.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive advancement communications calendar to ensure smooth flow of digital communications from Advancement department to external constituents.
- Coordinate and assist in creation of Advancement digital communications, including but not limited to e-newsletters and event communications, annual fund emails and other similar advancement digital communications; collaborate with members of the Advancement team on content creation and communication calendar.
- Utilize assessment software and tools to monitor performance of Advancement’s digital communications and college-branded social media across all platforms and report data regularly to appropriate administrators; help ensure brand alignment across all communication platforms.
- Serve as a resource to Advancement department on trends and best practices around digital communications and social media.
- Assist on special digital communications projects, as assigned.
Qualifications (Skills and Abilities Required)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Background in marketing, communications, event planning or similar experience
- Strong desire and natural ability to work with people; interest in collaborating with others
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; exceptional proofreading skills
- Ability to create and deliver engaging and effective text, photographic and video content
- Strong familiarity with social media platforms and online marketing strategies
- Ability to effectively use design and email marketing software
- Ability to effectively use event management software (previous experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM software preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to cheerfully coordinate multiple programs and activities, and to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, while able to adapt easily to change
- Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule (weekend and evening availability required)
- Willingness to engage fully in the Williamson school community and commit to the five core values of Faith, Integrity, Diligence, Excellence and Service.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Williamson College of the Trades is an endowed, gift supported three-year, independent, post-secondary, vocational-technical college for economically qualified young men. The college, founded over 130 years ago, is a community of 330+ students and 80 part-time/full-time instructors, administrators, and support staff operating on a beautiful 220-acre campus near Media, PA.

Physical Requirements
- Routine office work with extensive sitting, standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and walking around the campus.
- Ability to lift and carry no more than 25 pounds.
- Licensed driver.
Supervisory Responsibility
None. Works cooperatively with numerous staff and volunteer groups.
