Who We Are
C.B. Community Schools in Philadelphia is a vibrant, innovative high school serving a unique group of students who are involved with or have been involved with, The Department of Human Services and Philadelphia's Juvenile Justice System. Our high school students are under-credited youth, have attended multiple schools, and are at increased risk of dropping out. Located in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia, we are an independent school that serves students through an individualized, competency-based academic program and holistic environment. C.B. Community Schools uses a School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and restorative practice model based on a peace and justice framework.
Students are engaged and inspired to earn a High School Diploma by working with talented faculty in a culture that blends solid academics and social-emotional learning. Through a curriculum that encourages critical thinking, independent learning, and self-advocacy, our students develop into curious contributors to society.

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full- Time Leader of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to join our small Independent High School. This role is specifically designed for individuals with a strong background in social work, who are passionate about supporting students from challenging backgrounds, including those involved with the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. The ideal candidate will develop and implement programs that promote students' emotional well-being and social skills, creating a supportive and inclusive environment conducive to learning. This role requires an individual who is adept in academic coaching and student mentoring, ensuring that all efforts align with community values and individual life goals for student success.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive SEL curriculum tailored to the needs of students from the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to support students in developing emotional resilience and social skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to create a holistic support system for students, communicating individual student needs to administration.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions for staff on best practices in social-emotional learning and trauma-informed care.
- Monitor and assess student progress in social-emotional development, adjusting programs as needed to meet their evolving needs.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster a sense of safety and belonging.
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school and community, connecting them with external resources as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress in accordance with school policies and confidentiality standards.
- Responsible for student attendance and behavioral concerns, identifying students in need of additional support in order to align with community values and individual life goals.
- Responsible for reporting student challenges to school administration and tracking all data associated with attendance and behavior.
- Responsible for scheduling circle meetings and collaborating with school administration to facilitate and coordinate circle meetings on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Responsible for keeping track of student appointments, such as work-related responsibilities or court appearances requiring out-of-school time.
- Facilitating monthly town halls/community meetings and collaborating with administration and SCL team members on school special events.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience working with high school students, particularly those from vulnerable populations.
- Strong understanding of social-emotional learning frameworks and trauma-informed practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that respects and values diversity.

Work Schedule:
- Full-time position 8:30 am - 4:00 pm M-F, with flexibility to accommodate school events and student needs.

Compensation:
- Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
