The J&L CDL A Transfer Driver is responsible for the timely, dependable, and efficient daily transport of materials between our main transfer hub in Frazer and the rest of J&L’s locations. The Transfer Driver works closely with the transfer and purchasing teams, as well as managers and warehouse teams company-wide, to ensure completion of the daily scheduled route and support smooth operations for the entire organization. Safety is the number one priority at J&L, and we are looking for qualified drivers with clean driving records.

Must be able to drive manual with no automatic restrictions. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years experience driving a large commercial vehicle and excellent customer service skills.

Compensation

• Pay range is $26.68-$29 an hour depending on experience
• Averaging 40-45 hours a week. More hours available per business needs.
• Time and a half overtime pay after 40 hours
• Weekly direct deposit

Home Time, Route, & Schedule

• Home Every Night!
• Hours: 6:30am - 4:30pm Monday- Friday
• Occasional 7:30am – noon shift on Saturdays
• Hauling: Building products
• Delivering to residential areas. Averaging 6 stops a day
• Level of Touch: Load and Unload

Responsibilities

• Safely transport materials daily between the main hub and local branches as per designated schedule.
• Coordinate with the second transfer driver and transfer coordinators for efficient routing and transfer logistics.
• Load and unload materials, ensuring they are secure and handled with care.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle’s safety and readiness.
• Verify complete accuracy of loads, ensuring that all materials are loaded and delivered as requested and as indicated on transfer documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle logs, and other required documentation.
• Ensure that J&L safety procedures are always followed.
• Represent the company professionally while interacting with branch staff, embodying our commitment to internal customer service.
• Communicate any delays, issues, or safety concerns promptly to the coordinators.
• Provide regular assistance in the warehouse, including active participation in physical inventories and cycle counts when required.
• Abide by all operating policies, procedures, and employee regulations as set by corporate management.
• Reliable attendance for at least 40 hours, Monday through Friday, and available for overtime or occasional Saturday shifts as may be determined by business needs.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have a valid CDL A license, with no automatic transmission restriction
• Minimum 1-year experience in truck driving, with a clean driving record
• Ability to handle physical workload, lifting up to 100 pounds to adjust materials during loading and unloading
• Strong work ethic, and self motivated and dedicated to providing exceptional customer service to internal customers
• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
• Experience operating sitdown forklifts
• Hazmat endorsement preferred.
• Hiring Radius: Drivers must be able to begin the scheduled route in Frazer, PA each day.
