Summer Associate - Learning and Nutrition VISTA

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) is committed to improving lives and community conditions. We strive to create population level change in the areas of education, community stability, and healthy aging and ensure individuals who experience crises have the supports they need to rebound. We focus on strengthening the networks of providers that deliver services to address these concerns and through staff of UWGLV who lead efforts across all three-issue areas, we address issues at the programmatic and systemic levels seeking to identify and deal with the root causes. We utilize the collective impact framework as a method for this problem solving of complex social issues and we embrace and promote practices as an asset towards creating positive change.

Member Duties : The Summer Learning and Nutrition VISTA support efforts across the Greater Lehigh Valley to reduce summer learning loss and improve access to nutritious food. This role works with community partners to implement the Summer Meals Program and provide enrichment activities for low-income youth, including literacy and STEAM programming. Responsibilities include assisting with meal distribution, engaging families, and conducting outreach to promote meal sites and learning opportunities. The VISTA will also collect and report program data, track participation, and document success stories. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills are essential, along with an interest in education, food access, and community impact.
