Special Events Operations Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Events Operations Coordinator is the main point of contact and responder to internal service requests for event equipment and materials, such as audiovisual equipment, podiums, tents, generators, et cetera. The position is responsible for managing storage areas and inventory, transporting equipment to events, and tracking vehicle maintenance. In addition, this position supports other Office of Special Events staff with other event-related operational tasks as assigned.

- A current, valid Class C Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operator's License at the time of filing application or prior to appointment, which must be maintained throughout employment. - Applicants must obtain Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearance and Cogent Finger Prints through the Department of Human Services prior to appointment.

Qualifying Requirements :
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
WORK EXPERIENCE : The application must clearly show one (1) year of full-time experience in maintaining and operating event equipment and vehicles (including tents, audiovisual systems), and tracking inventory of same. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis).
EDUCATION/TRAINING : High school diploma or GED.
EQUIVALENCY : None permitted for this position. Therefore, no education/training and/or work experience may be substituted toward the qualifying requirements listed above.
CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS
If you meet the qualifying requirements listed above, you will be sent a letter of admission (when applicable) for the following examination(s). You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position. Candidates who receive job offers must pass a medical examination (when applicable) prior to start date.

POSITION DUTIES
- Maintains equipment, tracks inventory, and organizes storage.
- Acts as liaison for interdepartmental requests for press conferences and equipment.
- Acts as primary staff for Cinema in the Park series.
- Assembles, tests, operates, troubleshoots and deconstructs audiovisual equipment for assigned events and concerts.
- Transports equipment and operational supplies for special events.
- Assists in preparing event sites.
- Drives department box truck and or cargo vans as needed.
- Lifts and assembles heavy items such as speakers, podiums, tents, et cetera.
- Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
