How You Will Contribute
Program Assistants support a range of educational programming for all ages, including Art Kids Classes, drop-in artmaking in the Art Kids Studio, performance, talk-based programming, and additional drop-in offers such as Family Festivals. Responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of public programs including set up, greeting families, facilitating studio projects, gallery teaching, and other responsibilities as designated. This position requires a weekly Saturday or Sunday shift, as well as availability for Sunday Family Festivals: August 3, October 2, November 7, December 7, February 1, March 1, April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, and August 2.

Specifically, you will:
  • Support a suite of Art Kids programming including Art Kids Studio, Art Kids Classes, Family Festivals, seasonal offers, and other Public Programs as needs arise
  • Set up learning environments
  • Prepare materials and supplies
  • Welcome visitors to public programs, including children and their grownups, and encourage participation
  • Introduce and facilitate art making activities, designed by Family Programs staff
  • Maintain programming space—keep it tidy, organized, and follow the systems and procedures
  • Work in a team environment
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment and visitor service skills

Your background and experience include:
  • Familiarity with art making materials
  • Experience working with children (in formal or informal settings) and the general public
  • Excellent customer service skills, we welcome a background in retail, hospitality, and dining
  • Ability to work in a team environment
Position and Compensation Details
  • The hourly rate for this position is $18.00
  • This position is part-time, non-exempt, and 10 - 15 hours per week.
  • This position requires routine weekend shifts per the program schedules.
  • This position reports to the Associate Director of Family Programs.
  • This position ends on August 31, 2026.
  • This position is required to be performed fully onsite at Philadelphia Museum of Art locations.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting required.
