Executive Director
The Philadelphia Fashion Incubator (PFI) is entering an exciting new chapter as it evolves from its traditional year-long residency program to a more dynamic and inclusive annual membership-based model. Our mission remains the same: to nurture fashion entrepreneurs, grow local talent, and strengthen Philadelphia’s fashion ecosystem. We now offer expanded access to educational workshops, mentorship, business services, showroom opportunities, trade show support, and a vibrant community of designers and industry professionals.
Position Overview:
The Executive Director is the visionary and strategic leader of PFI, responsible for guiding the organization through its next phase of growth and transformation. This individual will oversee all programming, operations, fundraising, partnerships, and community engagement, while building a national reputation for PFI as a leader in entrepreneurial fashion education.
The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for creative entrepreneurs, a strong educator, and a respected connector in the Philadelphia business, cultural, and philanthropic communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Lead the successful execution of PFI’s new 2026 programming model.
- Develop and oversee a diverse calendar of workshops, events, trade show activations, and networking experiences for members.
- Drive innovation in fashion entrepreneurship education and community engagement.
Community Engagement & Ecosystem Building
- Serve as a connector between designers, brands, universities, retailers, sponsors, press, and civic institutions.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in programming and community partnerships.
- Support and elevate Philadelphia’s fashion ecosystem as a national model.
Board & Organizational Management
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to set strategic goals and performance metrics.
- Lead board meetings, prepare board reports, and assist with board development and recruitment.
- Serve as a bridge between board and staff, providing clarity, transparency, and accountability.
Fundraising & Sponsorship
- Lead fundraising efforts including grants, sponsorships, and individual giving.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with funders, government agencies, and corporate sponsors.
- Execute annual fundraising events, including conferences like FashCon Philly and other special initiatives.
Marketing & Brand Strategy
- Oversee PFI’s marketing and communications strategy to promote member success stories, events, and impact.
- Work with media, press, and influencers to elevate brand visibility locally and nationally.
- Lead digital strategy, newsletter campaigns, social media, and storytelling initiatives.
Operations & Financial Oversight
- Manage day-to-day operations and staff, ensuring a high standard of efficiency and professionalism.
- Oversee budgeting, accounting, compliance, and reporting in partnership with the Board Treasurer.
- Utilize data to track progress and demonstrate organizational impact.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, creative industries, or fashion.
- Deep understanding of the fashion business ecosystem and small business development.
- Strong local network in Philadelphia’s business, philanthropic, and cultural sectors.
- Experience in fundraising, marketing, team management, and event production.
- Confident public speaker and excellent communicator.
- Strategic thinker who can execute on vision and meet deliverables with excellence.
- Energetic, self-directed, inclusive, and passionate about empowering others.
Bonus Experience (Preferred, but not required):
- Experience running incubators, accelerators, or educational programs for entrepreneurs.
· Proven leadership experience in entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, creative industries, or fashion.
- Familiarity with trade shows, retail pop-ups, and creative business licensing models.
- Background in fashion production, marketing, or merchandising.
