THE POSITION Are you a hands-on technical expert who thrives on accuracy and cutting-edge equipment? If so, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is excited to welcome a motivated Survey Technician to join the team in District 12. Within this role, you will perform advanced technical tasks, using both manual and electronic tools to collect essential surveying data for various projects, including preliminary assessments, right-of-way, engineering, bridge, construction, land, and property surveys. As a Survey Technician, your role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining various survey instruments. You will establish centerlines, measure angles, and verify the alignment of structures. Levels are utilized to secure ground elevations, establish benchmarks, and determine grades on roads. In addition, you will operate a wide range of equipment such as as theodolites, electronic distance measuring equipment, electronic total stations, electronic data collectors, portable computers, and telecommunications equipment. You will also employ various Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and techniques to pinpoint mapping and survey grade locations. Other responsibilities entail performing trigonometric and algebraic calculations, preparing field sketches and notes, and reviewing the work of colleagues for accuracy.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position will be primarily based out of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes). Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.Condition of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.Other Requirements:
