We are seeking a skilled Distribution Designer to design overhead and underground electric distribution systems. This role encompasses work for new business, system upgrades, relocations, storm hardening, and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will develop construction drawings, layouts, schematics, staking sheets, and material lists utilizing CAD and GIS-based tools. The role involves applying utility standards, NESC requirements, local codes, and client specifications to all design work.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems for various projects.

• Develop construction drawings, layouts, schematics, staking sheets, and material lists using CAD and GIS-based tools.

• Apply utility standards, NESC requirements, local codes, and client specifications to all design work.

• Perform basic to intermediate distribution calculations, including equipment sizing, electric load calculations, and pole loading and clearance analysis.

• Conduct or support field visits to verify site conditions, perform measurements, and coordinate constructability considerations.

• Coordinate with internal engineering teams, survey, permitting, right-of-way, and construction groups.

• Interface with customers, municipalities, and joint-use partners as required.

• Prepare permit drawings and documentation for local, state, and regulatory agencies.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of experience in Distribution Design (Electric Utility).

• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other CAD software.

• Proficiency in design, power distribution, electrical engineering, and drafting.

• Understanding of utility design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CAD Certificate or Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting.

• Experience on the consulting side is a plus.

• Familiarity with Pole Loading software.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00/hr.
