Summary

An Addison Group client is looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the full accounting cycle for real estate assets, from journal entries to lender reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries on both an accrual and cash basis as required
• Analyze financial statements and provide explanations for significant variances
• Partner with property staff and the accounts payable team on invoice coding and reclassifications
• Monitor accounts receivable balances and tenant ledger activity
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Assemble quarterly reporting packages for lender review
• Reconcile monthly mortgage statements and process related payments
• Record and process payments for property taxes, school taxes, and building insurance premiums
• Conduct internal reviews of the trial balance to support external CPAs during tax preparation
• Post closing entries related to property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing transactions
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting department workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of professional accounting experience
• Experience working within the property management or real estate industry
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Familiarity with Yardi software highly preferred
