Controller - Metals Recycling - Base Salary to 175k/year - Pittsburgh, PA

• Our client, a well-established metals recycling organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to join its onsite accounting and finance team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
• The Controller will lead the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, inventory accounting, tax oversight, audit coordination, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis functions. This position requires experience within the scrap metal, metals recycling, or related industrial environment and a strong background in inventory accounting, financial controls, and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Perform account analysis, reconciliation, review, and resolution.
• Oversee plant inventory accounting, inventory controls, valuation, and reporting.
• Prepare, review, and distribute financial statements and management reports.
• Oversee bank reconciliations and cash management activities.
• Review and approve sales tax, use tax, property tax, and other business tax filings.
• Coordinate and lead annual financial statement audits, including workpaper preparation and review.
• Manage tax provisions and related accounting workpapers.
• Support annual physical inventory observations and inventory audit activities.
• Prepare annual budgets for assigned business segments.
• Develop monthly forecasts and financial projections.
• Analyze financial performance and present results to business stakeholders.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, risk assessment processes, and fraud prevention measures.
• Oversee and develop accounting staff, including the Assistant Controller and other finance personnel.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, reporting requirements, and financial control procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience working within the scrap metal, metals recycling, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, steel recycling, or related metals processing industry.
• Experience with inventory accounting and inventory control processes.
• Working knowledge of financial controls and General Ledger management.
• Working knowledge of internal control risk assessment and fraud prevention.
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
• Experience coordinating financial statement audits.
• Experience overseeing tax filings, tax provisions, and related accounting workpapers.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Pittsburgh, PA.

• Base salary in the 170k - 175k/year range.
