Job Description

This outdoor forklift operator role takes place in a busy lumber yard environment where you will work in all weather conditions, similar to construction, roofing, or landscaping settings. You will primarily operate a sit-down propane forklift to handle materials such as wood flooring, wood decking up to 20 feet long, and PVC trimming, while supporting efficient loading and material flow throughout the yard.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down propane forklift safely and efficiently throughout the lumber yard.
• Work from pick sheets to identify, locate, and pick the correct materials for each order.
• Handle and move materials such as wood flooring, wood decking up to 20 feet long, and PVC trimming.
• Prepare and stage loads accurately on flatbed trucks for delivery or shipment.
• Perform general material handling tasks, including loading and unloading materials.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including hot summers, cold winters, rain, and snow.
• Shovel and plow the yard as needed to maintain safe and accessible work areas during winter weather.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and working in the yard.
• Assist with general labor tasks in the yard and warehouse as required.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse, yard, or similar environment.
• Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Ability to safely handle and maneuver long and bulky materials, including wood decking up to 20 feet in length.
• Prior experience working in a warehouse or material handling environment.
• Ability to read and work from pick sheets to accurately select and prepare orders.
• Strong awareness of safety practices related to forklift operation and yard work.
• Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving materials, shoveling, and general labor.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed to support operational demands.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manchester, PA.

The pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Manchester,PA.
