Job Description: Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), including nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and physician assistants, are integral members of UPMC’s care delivery team. They deliver expert care within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams across all UPMC facilities in Central Pennsylvania. UPMC supports the growth of APPs through innovative educational strategies, ongoing professional training, and leadership development. With a dedicated team of 3,600 APPs, UPMC is committed to advancing collaborative practice models and supporting research that drives innovative healthcare delivery systems.

Staff Level Responsibilities:

The Staff APP is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner responsible for setting standards for the level and quality of care. They manage and provide patient care activities using independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role includes leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. Staff APPs establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes throughout the continuum of care. They demonstrate a commitment to the community and their healthcare profession.
