I&C Systems Architect, Requirements and Validation

Join as a principal‑level I&C systems architect on a 12‑month contract and help synchronize advanced instrumentation and control across large‑scale plant technology projects. In this role, you will champion system architecture alignment, interface integrity, and verification excellence in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment.

Mission

Turn stakeholder intent into deployed capability—precisely specified, fully traceable, and rigorously validated—while keeping configuration under control and documentation audit‑ready.

What success looks like

• Week 1–4: Publish an actionable I&C integration plan and confirm interface boundaries with subsystem owners.
• Month 2–3: Execute design integration reviews; stand up a requirements traceability matrix in IBM DOORS (or equivalent) with clear links to verification methods.
• Month 4–6: Lead acceptance testing and pre‑operational validation; resolve cross‑cutting integration issues and drive changes through formal change control.
• By contract end: Maintain stable baselines for documentation, schematics, and software; complete configuration audits; deliver complete packages for regulatory reviews, certifications, and audits.

Core responsibilities

• Own the I&C system integration plan and interface control aligned to the overall architecture.
• Implement a Requirements Management Plan with end‑to‑end traceability and clear verification evidence.
• Validate requirements for functional performance, safety, and cybersecurity robustness.
• Establish and enforce a Configuration Management Plan; keep all artifacts consistent across their lifecycles.
• Lead investigations to resolve complex integration issues across all phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in engineering or another STEM field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in systems engineering.
• Strong command of engineering standards and quality frameworks.
• Experienced with requirements tools (DOORS, Polarion) and configuration management systems.
• Knowledge of digital control systems and modern automation platforms.
