Physical Requirements for Most Roles
All faculty and staff positions at SCFS may involve:
- Moving, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds
- Walking indoors and outdoors, sometimes at a quick pace
- Kneeling or squatting
- Sitting on the floor
- Standing for extended periods
- Climbing stairs
These expectations help ensure safe supervision of students in a dynamic environment.

>> Preschool Teacher (Pre-K)
The Preschool Teacher creates a nurturing, play-based environment that supports early childhood development and fosters joyful exploration, outdoor learning, and co-regulation. This teacher collaborates closely with assistant teachers and families to build a peaceful, developmentally attuned classroom community.
Key qualities: warm, reflective, skilled in emergent curriculum, grounded in child development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Early Childhood (Master’s preferred)
- Knowledge of emergent curriculum & developmental stages
- Experience with young children preferred

>> Pre-K Assistant Teacher
Works in partnership with the Lead Teacher to support caregiving routines, social–emotional growth, outdoor exploration, and play-based learning. Helps maintain a calm, supportive classroom environment.
Key qualities: patient, collaborative, developmentally knowledgeable.
Qualifications:
- Early childhood experience preferred
- Collaborative, patient, warm presence

>> Primary Classroom Teacher (K–5)
Designs and implements inquiry-based academic instruction in literacy, numeracy, science, and social studies. Uses Responsive Classroom practices and builds a strong partnership with families.
Key qualities: skilled elementary pedagogy, differentiation, reflective practice.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s required (Master’s preferred)
- Knowledge of K–5 pedagogy
- Experience with differentiation & child-centered instruction

>> Middle School Teacher (6–8)
Subject-area specialist (Humanities, Math, Science, or Spanish) who designs rigorous, relevant, inquiry-driven curriculum for adolescents. Serves as advisor and models restorative practices and student agency.
Key qualities: content expertise, adolescent development knowledge, collaborative spirit.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s required (Master’s preferred)
- Strong subject expertise
- Experience with adolescents preferred
Pay: $22,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
