Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care and customer service. This energetic position combines technical expertise with retail sales skills to help patients find the perfect eyewear solutions while ensuring compliance with medical and privacy standards. You’ll work closely with our optometrists to provide personalized care in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to improving patients’ vision and overall well-being.

Duties

• Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses that meet their prescription needs and personal style preferences
• Take precise measurements of patients’ eyes, including pupillary distance and frame fitting
• Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as OfficeMate and ExamWriter, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times
• Conduct laboratory tasks such as frame adjustments, and verifying optical prescriptions with laboratory experience
• Educate patients on proper lens care and the importance of regular eye exams
• Manage retail sales transactions efficiently while applying retail math skills to meet sales goals and inventory management standards

Experience

• Previous optical experience or retail management background with a strong emphasis on customer service and sales success
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as OfficeMate/ExamWriter or other healthcare software for documentation and medical coding purposes
• Understanding of medical billing processes related to optical services and insurance claims processing
• Ability to communicate complex medical information clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior populations
• Demonstrated competence in handling sensitive medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations
