Payroll Specialist

A growing, multi-state organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its corporate team. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys owning the full payroll process from start to finish. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll for a large, geographically dispersed workforce while partnering closely with internal leaders and HR.

• Process bi-weekly and weekly payroll for a large employee population across multiple states.
• Ensure accurate pay calculations including earnings, deductions, taxes, and special compensation.
• Review and audit payroll changes such as status updates, transfers, pay adjustments, and time-off balances.
• Support payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assist with payroll reporting and reconciliations.
• Handle wage garnishments, benefit deductions, and retirement plan contributions.
• Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and leadership with professionalism and discretion.
• Partner with HR and operations to ensure data accuracy and timely processing.
• Contribute to process improvements and support overall payroll operations.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of payroll experience in a high-volume, multi-state environment.
• Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with payroll data and reports.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• Professional communication skills and a high level of confidentiality.
