Job Description

The Senior Engineer, SCADA and Controls Engineering supports the standardization, design, implementation, and integration of data center controls systems across a global portfolio. This role contributes to the engineering and deployment of Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and SCADA platforms to ensure safe, reliable, and scalable operations for high-availability and AI-infrastructure data center environments.

This engineer partners with Data Center Design/Build teams, Operations, and vendors to support system designs, review controls implementations, and help ensure operational outcomes are achieved through design validation, commissioning, and lifecycle support.

Responsibilities

Controls Engineering & System Design

  • Support the design and implementation of BMS, BAS, EPMS, and SCADA systems for new data center builds and retrofit projects.

  • Contribute to the development and application of controls system standards, reference designs, and engineering specifications.

  • Assist with defining controls architectures including system topology, communication protocols, tagging standards, alarming strategies, and historian requirements.

  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to ensure proper integration between controls platforms and critical infrastructure systems.

  • Support system interoperability between controls platforms, field devices, and enterprise monitoring or analytics platforms.

Design Reviews & Technical Support

  • Participate in project design reviews to validate that controls systems meet engineering standards, operational requirements, and reliability expectations.

  • Provide technical input on controls architecture, instrumentation strategies, and system integration during project development.

  • Assist in identifying technical risks and work with cross-functional teams to develop mitigation strategies.

  • Support troubleshooting and technical resolution of controls and SCADA related issues during design, construction, and commissioning.

Commissioning & Operational Readiness

  • Support functional testing and commissioning activities for controls systems, including integrated system testing with mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

  • Validate that vendor deliverables include complete point lists, tagging standards, metadata, and open protocol access.

  • Assist in validating alarm strategies, data integrity, and system performance prior to operational handover.

  • Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews involving controls systems.

Cybersecurity & OT Network Integration

  • Work with network and cybersecurity teams to support implementation of secure controls architectures, including segmentation and secure connectivity practices.

  • Ensure controls designs follow established standards for access control, monitoring, logging, and secure remote connectivity.

  • Support documentation and configuration management practices for controls systems.

Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with controls vendors, system integrators, and contractors to ensure project deliverables align with engineering standards.

  • Support technical reviews of vendor designs, submittals, and system integration approaches.

  • Work closely with operations and reliability teams to incorporate operational feedback into future designs and system improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in data center engineering, mission-critical infrastructure, or industrial control systems.

  • Experience supporting the design, integration, or deployment of BMS, BAS, EPMS, or SCADA systems in complex facilities.

  • Working knowledge of:

  • Controls system architectures and field instrumentation

  • SCADA and historian platforms

  • Alarm management and monitoring strategies

  • Controls commissioning and functional testing practices

  • OT networking fundamentals and system integration

  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, or MQTT .

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and vendor teams to support complex infrastructure projects.

  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting mission-critical or hyperscale data center environments .

  • Experience with Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation) or similar enterprise SCADA platforms.

  • Experience integrating controls data into centralized monitoring or analytics platforms.

  • Understanding of telemetry aggregation across BMS, EPMS, PLCs, RTUs, and environmental monitoring systems.

  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup of large infrastructure systems.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
