Administrative Assistant

Purpose: To provide administrative, secretarial, and communications services to the Pastor.

Accountability: Accountable to the Pastor as head of staff. In absence of head of staff, this person reports to Session.

Responsibilities:

Perform the function of administrative assistant to the Pastor. Prepare bulletins for worship, as well as special services. Compile the annual report in January. Direct communications and correspondence, including letters and mailings for Pastor; church email account; updating front lawn sign and worship information in local papers; sending out letters for advertising of church events (local papers, penny savers, and churches) Create and manage the monthly newsletter. Compile and maintain church contact list, membership directory and church family directory. Maintain churchs website, calendar, and social media accounts. Maintain office supplies and facilitate maintenance of office equipment in collaboration with the Trustees. Perform other tasks as assigned. Possess ability and willingness to explore and obtain additional training and education as role demands.

Experience Needed:

Ability to work proactively and cooperatively with Pastor and other staff. Good typing and proof-reading skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Google Workspace. Knowledge of computer security procedures/protocols and regular updating.

Work Time and Remuneration:

The year-round role is eight hours per week. The hourly wage is set by Session and Trustees at the annual budget meeting. Schedule may vary based on the needs of the church. Expectation to be in church office a minimum of four hours per week. Other tasks may be completed remotely, or a substitute should be identified as needed. Minimum annual salary of $7,100, commensurate with experience.

Evaluation: Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Pastor as head of staff and the Personnel Committee. The Trustees will annually review the adequacy of compensation in coordination with the Session.
