HEAD TELLER- HOURS: 7:45AM - 5PM M-F FULL TIME ON-SITE
Position Summary
Responsibilities include servicing the daily needs of our membership, providing information regarding member's accounts, credit union services and products. Serves our membership with care and accuracy in processing a variety of transactions in the lobby including cash transactions, receiving, and processing deposit transactions, processing loan payment transactions, disbursing checks and completing transfers between accounts. The Head Teller is also responsible for assisting in the training of new employees in the Teller position.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, organizational and mathematical skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including professional phone etiquette, and the ability to interact well with members and all levels of staff, as well as active listening skills.
- Requires strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, particularly Microsoft Word.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Commitment to Member Service Success.
- Ability to maintain professional poise and remain calm under pressure of time, overcoming obstacles, and handling difficult lobby/call situations with demonstrated self-control.
- Ability to learn and apply new information quickly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a resource to address members' questions or problems related to credit union products and services.
- Responsible for performing teller transactions and account maintenance at the teller window and ITM locations.
- Balances, replenishes and troubleshoots the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM), Integrated Teller Machine (ITMs), cash recycling machines and coin counting machines.
- Balance own transactions daily, handle cash and checks received in accordance with policy and procedure. Balances vault cash, accepts cash deliveries, and distributes cash to Tellers.
- Assist in the oversight of Tellers in the following areas:
- Observes newly trained Tellers as they post transactions
- Observes Tellers to determine where recommendations for performance improvement, additional training, and/or disciplinary action is needed.
- Meets daily with Teller Operations Supervisor to be kept abreast of the ongoing assignments that must be completed within the branch.
- Provides feedback, training and assistance to the Tellers when needed.
- Serves as a resource for Teller questions and concerns. Consults with Teller Operations Supervisor on situations requiring further expertise.
- Maintains the monthly balancing of postage stamp funds on consignment.
- Completes the Check 21 process through the Federal Reserve Bank.
- Completes member asset verifications when received.
- Serves as a "Greeter", interacting with members as they enter the credit union facility and directing them to the appropriate credit union staff member for assistance, as requested.
- Assists with maintaining the Safe Deposit Program, to ensure compliance with the Safe Deposit Box Policy.
- Actively participates in performance evaluations and career growth through the utilization of the credit union's
- Maintain a strong understanding of the features and benefits of UECU products and services to convey to members. Recognize an opportunity to further engage our members through education and proactive conversations. Cross sell credit union memberships as well as UECU products and services. Refer members to internal partners as appropriate.
- Maintain a professional, supportive, and leadership role within the Branch.and with all staff.
- Maintain solid knowledge of and comply with established operating policies and procedures. Maintain adequate controls to ensure the Credit Union's adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
- Maintains a cash drawer; balances and audits the cash drawer according to policy and procedures.
- Reviews and adjusts teller procedures with Teller Operation Supervisor to keep procedures up to date.
- Oversees opening and closing procedures in lobby.
- Responsible for ensuring that all responsibilities of this position are performed in compliance with provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and all other applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

- Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
Job Requirements (Education/Experience):
- High School Diploma or equivalent with training in basic math.
- Previous Teller experience required.
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience involving face-to-face and/or telephone contacts.
- Familiarity with credit unions and the financial services field is required.
