Overview:

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Lead Out at our Wellsville, PA location. The Lead Out works with the Press Operator to ensure metal meets in-house standards. The Lead Out inspects materials and sets up dies, bolsters, water boxes and cooling fans as directed.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects aluminum as it comes out of press; informs the Press Operator of problems. Inspects metal for: tear out, die lines and pick up.
  • Sets dies and bolsters in the die cradle, making sure they are lined up correctly.
  • Assists with the set-up of water boxes, water pans, cooling fans, and other special requirements for various alloys.
  • Sets up each job using carbon blocks, canisters, clamps, etc.
  • Transfers metal as required.
  • Changes gas bottles to full cylinders as needed and stores empty bottles in the gas house ensuring they have been secured properly.
  • Regularly checks all equipment such as saws, cranes, torches, track, transfer arms, die oven, etc. Informs Foreman or Lead Person immediately of any problems or potential problems with equipment.
  • Loads dies in the die oven as needed.
  • Tears apart used dies, removing aluminum from back of die and putting bolsters away.
  • Keeps all material and tolls out of walkways. Maintains a neat and orderly work area and assists with general housekeeping of the Press Department.
  • Follows company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:

Ideal Candidate Will Have:


Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.

Experience

  • Previous metal inspection experience or a mechanical drafting background is preferred.
  • Previous metal manufacturing experience is required.

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, utilize measuring equipment, and operate production equipment.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Regular attendance required.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
