POSITION SUMMARY:TheCollege Counseloris responsible forguiding students and parents through the college admission and financial aid process.Theywill join a dynamic educational environment where all administrative and teaching colleagues work collaboratively to build andmaintaina learner-centered, inclusive school community.TheCollegeCounselor commits to the mission of Catholic education in the Mercy tradition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Guide students and families throughthecollegeresearch,search,application,and selection process
- Assiststudents with buildinga balanced college list, prioritizingcollegeoptions, current trends,andleveragingapplication strategies
- Writecomprehensiveletters of recommendationfor 35+ Senior caseload
- Collaborate with English department on Common Applicationessayworkshop and essay review
- Adviseand meet with Junior caseloadforcourseselection
- Review studentscommonapplication materialsincluding:personal statement, supplemental essays, activities section, letters of continued interest, etc.
- Maintain regular contact with students and parents throughout theadmissionprocessthroughrequiredindividual meetings, family meetings,drop-in meetings,emails,and phone calls
- Develop andmaintainprofessional relationships with college admissionrepresentatives, prioritizing hosting college visitors to Gwynedd, andvisitingcollege campuses yearly
- Keep current on college admission and financial aid standards and trends
- Assistin organizing andfacilitatingworkshops, collegevisits,and collegeseminarclassfor students, parents, and faculty to understand further their roles in the admission process
- Attend professional conferences including NACAC,PACAC,ACCIS, and College Board
- Attend and present at yearly College Counseling parent information sessions
- Attend Gwynedd admission openhousesandrequiredschool events
- Additionaladministrative responsibilities to bedeterminedbased on skills and experience

COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of the structure of the educational system as well as cultural,political,and social influence oncurrent educational practices
- Knowledge ofcollegeapplicationlandscape,process,and current admission trends
- Impeccable listening and communication skills both written and spoken; Ability to be flexible with daily schedule,e.g.,using time-management skills
- ProficiencywithSCOIR(preferred),Veracross(preferred), Canvas(preferred), Canva,Instagram,school data systems, Microsoft/Google platforms
- Demonstrate multicultural, moral, ethical, and professional competencies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders, and others to promote and support student success
- Exhibitastrongsenseprofessionaldiscretionandconfidentialityand sense of humor

SPECIFICATIONS:
- Mastersdegreepreferred ;2-4 years of experience in college counseling orcollegeadmissionsrequired.
