JOB TITLE: Director of Community Corrections

REPORTS TO: Chief of Staff

JOB PURPOSE/OVERVIEW: The Director of Community Corrections is responsible for the administration and management of the facility, including the safety and protection of those on release, and implementation of department and county policies and procedures.

JOB DUTIES:

•

Supervises daily work assignments of employees and resident activities.

•

Manages staff.

•

Assists in employee scheduling and shift coverage.

•

Supervises employee orientation and training.

•

Participates in programming and interaction with residents.

•

Prepares an operating and capital budget for the facility.

•

Ability to work with other County and outside agencies.

•

Prepares monthly reports and present to the Prison Board.

•

Implements court orders and misconduct hearings.

•

Acts as a liaison between inter-governmental agencies and outside social services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•

Three or more years of professional experience in a relevant field to the position.

•

A bachelor’s degree in a related field. Significant experience may be substituted for a degree.

•

A master’s degree or professional certification is preferred.

•

Knowledge of the criminal justice system.

•

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

•

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

•

Ability to physically restrain adults and apply mechanical restraints as instructed by the regulations.

•

Work is conducted with potential exposure to physical and emotional assault.

•

Work is conducted with potential exposure to disease, biohazard materials and infections.
