Histology Tech | Travel assignment with a Day shift in State College, PA. Start date: 03/23/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,675–$1,769 per week. Guaranteed hours: none. Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday. Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital histology department.

Responsibilities
- Identify and process all tissue specimens received in anatomic pathology; assign sequential accession numbers and maintain strict patient identification, entering accurate demographics, source, and physician information.
- Assist pathologist with gross examination by providing accurately labeled cassettes, loading/operating the tissue processor, and offering requested support.
- Meticulously process, section, stain, and deliver prepared slides to the pathologist in a timely manner for daily microscopic review.
- Assist with frozen section preparation immediately upon specimen receipt in the histology department.
- Perform special histochemical staining procedures as required by the pathologist, ensuring completion within the requested timeframe for timely reporting.
- Prepare slides or anatomical material for referral to external laboratories when indicated and file/index slides and blocks for secure storage and retrieval.

Requirements
- Certification: ASCP histotechnologist or equivalent certification required.
- Technical proficiency: ability to perform tissue processing, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation; deliver accurate results.
- Accuracy and documentation: maintain strict patient identification and proper accessioning throughout processing and handling.
- Availability: able to work 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday.
- Experience/preferences: histology experience and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting are preferred.
