Job Summary

New restaurant/bar opening soon is seeking a hands-on Kitchen Manager (Working Manager) to lead all Back of House (BOH) operations. This role is the top BOH leadership position and includes regular cooking/line responsibilities along with management duties. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for BOH staffing, training, food safety, cleanliness, and consistent execution during service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all BOH staff (cooks, prep/utility, dish)

• Work the line during service and support prep as needed

• Create station plans and manage shift execution (assignments, breaks, pacing, ticket flow)

• Train BOH team on recipes/specs, portioning, plating, and service standards

• Maintain food safety and sanitation systems (temps, labeling, rotation, cleaning checklists)

• Keep kitchen inspection-ready and ensure proper opening/closing procedures

• Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory counts, and storage organization

• Monitor waste, prep pars, and portion control to support food cost goals

• Communicate staffing needs, equipment issues, and operational priorities to leadership

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of BOH leadership experience (Kitchen Manager, BOH Manager, Lead Cook, Shift Lead, or similar)

• Strong line cooking skills and ability to lead during high-volume service

• Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures

• Reliable attendance and ability to work weekends/peak shifts

• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Required Qualifications

• ServSafe Manager Certification
