Legal Secretary/ Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Legal Secretary to join our team. Our firm primarily represents school districts, municipalities, and other public entities , providing legal services in areas including education law, municipal law, labor and employment, and general counsel matters.

Position Summary
The Legal Secretary will provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys, ensuring the efficient operation of the firm. This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, format, proofread, and file legal documents and correspondence
• Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, hearings, and deadlines
• Assist with court filings, including e-filing and service of documents
• Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files
• Communicate professionally with clients, courts, school officials, and municipal staff
• Track deadlines and assist with compliance and administrative tasks
• Perform general administrative duties such as answering phones, processing mail, and data entry

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a legal secretary or administrative assistant in a law firm (preferred)
• Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and document formatting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); experience with legal practice management software a plus
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
