The Web Content Strategist is responsible for shaping content strategies across Airgas digital platforms, including corporate website and e-commerce, in alignment with overall business objectives and user needs. This role collaborates across several existing and emerging disciplines including SEO, UX, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Personalization, and Localization.

  • Develop, champion, and execute comprehensive content strategies for Airgas digital platforms, including our corporate and e-commerce website, aligning with business objectives and user needs.

  • Define and implement robust composable content models, taxonomies, and metadata strategies, overseeing the implementation and adherence to content and asset tagging standards to optimize content organization, discoverability, and personalization.

  • Conduct in-depth content audits, gap analyses, and extensive user research to identify opportunities, inform content prioritization, and optimize content for performance across the customer journey.

  • Define, track, and report on key content performance indicators (KPIs), leveraging analytics and data to derive actionable insights and inform ongoing content optimization.

  • Establish and maintain content governance policies, editorial standards, and style guides to ensure consistency, quality, and brand voice across all digital content.

  • Collaborate closely with Brand, Marketing, Creative, Merchandising, Digital Product, UX, Engineering, SEO, Data Science, Personalization, and Localization teams to integrate content strategy seamlessly into overall digital initiatives.

  • Influence and provide strategic recommendations on information architecture, intuitive site navigation, user flows, and effective redirect strategies to ensure optimal content discoverability and user experience.

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends, and competitor content strategies to ensure Airgas remains at the forefront of digital content innovation.

  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to cross-functional teams on content best practices, SEO, and user experience, and present content strategies and performance reports to various stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Digital Communications, Business Administration, Data Science or related field, or equivalent education and related experience

  • Minimum of five years online/digital content strategy experience

  • Expert-level command of comprehensive content strategy principles across the full content lifecycle (planning, creation, optimization, governance), including demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing scalable content models, taxonomies, and metadata strategies, with meticulous attention to content and asset tagging protocols.

  • Advanced proficiency in SEO principles and content optimization strategies, encompassing keyword research, technical SEO considerations, and the ability to leverage analytics for performance measurement and actionable insights.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with deep proficiency in web analytics platforms (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics), enabling the interpretation of complex data, translation of findings into impactful content strategies, and effectively communicating results and recommendations to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

  • Deep proficiency in leveraging enterprise-level Content Management Systems (CMS) for efficient content creation, publishing, governance, and advanced content structure management.

  • Highly collaborative mindset and exceptional ability to build and foster relationships with diverse cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Brand, Marketing, Merchandising, Product, UX, Engineering, SEO, Data Science) within complex, highly matrixed organizational structures, effectively managing competing priorities and driving alignment.

  • Proven ability to translate high-level content strategy into actionable recommendations for information architecture, intuitive site navigation, user flows, and effective redirect strategies to optimize content discoverability and user experience.

  • Superior organizational and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex initiatives, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience applying Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and other accessibility best practices to ensure inclusive and compliant digital content experiences.

  • A natural leader with the ability to provide strategic direction, coaching, and mentorship to cross-functional team members and junior content professionals, coupled with a keen passion for emerging digital technologies and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
