Assistant Teacher in a Day Care Center
This is a permanent position. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for assisting in the design and/or implementation of curriculum appropriate for ages, developmental levels, and needs of all children in the class, assisting in the preparation of lesson plans in a timely manner, assisting in the planning of activities, implementation of schedule and transitions, assisting with regular and documented child observations. Management: - Disseminating and collecting newsletters, permission slips, and other items as needed from families and other staff; supervising additional staff and volunteers as necessary and required by the director and/or lead teacher. Parent: - Establishing and maintaining rapport and constructive communication with all families of children in your room; Contributing to and/or conducting parent conferences as requested by the director and/or lead teacher; providing information and feedback to parents about daily activities, including child's activities and growth and interests; communicating with parents about homework. Licensing: - Maintaining staff-child ratios to meet DHS regulations at all times; handling all aspects of program and care for children in a manner consistent with DHS regulations. Social Service Related: providing additional resource and contact information as needed. Meal/Nutrition: - Sitting with children at meal and snack times in a family type atmosphere, maintain hygiene and teach good health habits and nutrition. Health and Safety: maintaining a safe and healthy environment, doing regular safety checks of the classroom and also of the playground; maintaining a properly stocked first aid kit at all times; administering routine first aid and providing required accident reports for the office and also for the parents. Playground: supervising all children on the playground at all times; maintaining DPW required staff child ratios on the playground at all times. Support a variety of stimulating and age appropriate experiences on the playground to promote skill growth and development of all children; including sand and water experiences for children. Janitorial/Maintenance: maintaining the routine wiping off of tables, putting away materials, cleaning up of paints and other messy materials.Sanitizing bathroom and sink areas, especially including faucets and handles, constantly. Reporting maintenance and janitorial needs to the director. Checking and re-supplying as needed tissues, toilet paper, soap, paper towels, etc. Performing other duties as required/requested by the director and/or lead teacher.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires either an Associate`s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, related field such as Elementary Education, Education, Family Studies, or Human Services with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, or, as alternative, an Associate Degree in General Education with 24 month of teaching experience working with young children (infants through 5 years old) in an early childhood or educational setting. Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is required.
Full-time. Salary: $38,190 / Year
