Facilities Electrical Systems Engineer
Shape the power backbone of a world-class facility in Pittsburgh (Cheswick), PA
Picture your week: you kick off Monday huddling with the Facilities Manager to prioritize upgrades. By mid-morning, you’re reviewing SKM studies for coordination and arc-flash, then walking the plant with in-house electricians and contractors to plan a small construction project. Midweek, you finalize preventive and predictive maintenance instructions, align schedules to minimize downtime, and submit a well-justified appropriation request. By Friday, you’ve resolved a breaker nuisance trip, tuned the PM program based on root-cause findings, and ensured our systems align with NEC and NFPA 70/70B/70E.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate day-to-day facilities operations and production support across the site.
- Author clear work instructions for preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Prepare and justify capital/appropriation requests; manage projects through contractors and internal electricians.
- Analyze drawings, reports, and performance data to optimize layouts, systems, and quality controls.
- Plan and oversee facility expansions, equipment installations, and small construction projects.
- Build and manage maintenance schedules for infrastructure and equipment; balance resources for minimal disruption.
- Drive compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations in a cost-conscious way.
- Investigate equipment failures and facility emergencies; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Design electrical installations and improvements across distribution from 25 kV down to 208/120 V.
- Run short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash analysis using SKM.
- Apply NFPA 70, 70B, and 70E; interpret and implement NEC and applicable standards.
- Support low-voltage infrastructure: network cabling (fiber and copper), fire alarm, security, and camera systems.
What you bring
- U.S. citizenship (required due to DoD requirements).
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals.
- BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 2+ years of facilities engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on CAD proficiency for design and documentation.
- Depth in codes/standards: NEC, NFPA 70/70B/70E, and related regulations.
Compensation
Salary: $76,200–$110,000 per year
